Pinched Nerves
“Pinched nerves” at any level of the spine (cervical, thoracic, or lumbar) can be caused by several different problems including scar tissue formation from prior spine surgery, scoliosis (curvature of the spine), disc bulging/protrusion/extrusion/herniation, and disc degeneration.
Selective nerve root blocks (transforaminal epidural steroid injections) can be used to identify nerves causing the pain. If scar tissue is the cause then the duration of the response to epidural steroid injections will likely be limited and spinal cord stimulation (SCS) may be an excellent option
